Contacts¶
One of the features of the BiDiApp is connecting to the outside world via audio or video call. The BiDiApp connects the user with doctors, family, support groups and more, as long as they are care provider-approved. After all, all lists in the BiDiApp are curated.
Locate the Contact Section¶
First, select the purple “Contact” icon in the bottom menu.
Selecting a Contact Category¶
Second, on the contact screen, select at the right side of the screen a category/type you want to call. For example, in the below screenshot "Family", "Support Group", "Physicians", and "Specialists" are categories. The care provider assembles the list of categories.
On the left side of the screenshot, you can see the different contact categories the healthcare provider assigned to you.
In the screenshot above, we can see four (4) types of contact categories, a) Family, b) Support Group, c) Physicians, and d) Specialist.
In the screenshot below, you selected the Support Group category, indicated with a white band around the Support Group button.
You see now the individual contacts in the support group - inside the big red box - and can select any contact to make a call to with.
Tip
A green dot indicates a contact is online (available).
If a contact is offline (unavailable), the indicator dot becomes red.
The following example shows the Physicians group. The right side of the screenshot lists the assigned contacts for that group.
Selecting a Contact¶
In this step, after selecting the “Support Group” category, we're calling “Mary Ford”. The yellow box identifies the contact.
Tapping on a contact name will bring up the option to make either a video or an audio call with Mary.
Making a Video Call¶
Tapping the video call button initiates the video call. The screen shows the “Outgoing video call” screen, showing the contact name. To hang up before the callee answers, tap the “Cancel” button.
Note
Internet video calling relies on the quality of the internet connection at the caller and receiver side. A caller needs to wait for 5 to 10 or more ringtones before the receiver can answer the call.
Once the call connects, you will see a live video of the contact you have called. In the lower right corner, you will also see a live video feed of yourself. You can continue the video call just like any other video calling app.
In the video call screen are four function buttons:
- Camera Toggle On/Off: The button turns the camera on your mobile device on or off.
- Mic Toggle On/Off: The button mutes or unmutes the microphone on your device.
- End Call: The button ends the call in progress.
- Camera Toggle Front/Back: The button switches between the front or back camera on your device.
Making an Audio Call¶
To make an audio call, as before select a contact, and instead of tapping for a video call, tap the audio call button. The screen shows the “Outgoing audio call” screen. It shows the name of the contact that the call is made to. To interrupt the call, tap the “Cancel” button.
When an audio call is made, a screen is presented to you, which shows “Outgoing audio call” and below that it shows the name of the contact the call is being made to. In this case “Mary Ford”.
Note
Internet video calling relies on the quality of the internet connection at the caller and receiver side. A caller needs to wait for 5 to 10 or more ringtones before the receiver is can answer the call.
Once the receiver picks up the call you will see the following screen.
The audio call screen has four buttons, the same as the video calling screen. Besides the option to turn the microphone on/off. This allows the caller and receiver to switch between a video or audio call during the call.
- Camera Toggle On/Off: The button turns the camera on your mobile device on or off.
- Mic Toggle On/Off: The button mutes or unmutes the microphone on your device.
- End Call: The button ends the call in progress.
- Camera Toggle Front/Back: The button switches between the front or back camera on the device.
